GREEN PETS AMERICA CHARITIES:

Wildlife News: Orangutan Mothers Plan Forest Playdates.

A wonderful discovery about what mothers will do for their young. Researchers spent over 15 years and 32,000 hours studying mother and infant orangutans in Borneo. They found that mothers sometimes travel beyond their usual territory toward other mothers’ ranges, seemingly to give their children chances to play with well-matched playmates.

Scientists believe the mothers are listening for “forest gossip” and building a mental map not just of food but of neighbors too. A gentle reminder of how much care exists in the animal world.
